Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III officially launches on November 10, and given that it's one of the most anticipated games of the year, people want to play it as soon as possible. The game unlocks on console based on your region, which means players in New Zealand get a first crack at the game.
It's possible to change your PlayStation or Xbox settings to trick your console into believing you live in New Zealand, but there are some key things to know if you're going to attempt this.
For starters, on Xbox, you have to change your console region to New Zealand and your Call of Duty profile region to New Zealand, according to CharlieIntel. For PlayStation users, the process sounds involved enough to simply not be worth the time, as it reportedly requires creating a New Zealand-specific PSN account and then deleting and re-downloading the game for your actual region later on.
Apparently it's not possible at all, or potentially even more complicated, to try to play Modern Warfare III on PC ahead of time by tricking your PC into believing it's in New Zealand through a VPN or some other means.
PSA: If you intend to fly to New Zealand for Thursday, it only works on Xbox consoles. You have to change your console region AND your Call of Duty profile region to New Zealand.
Doesn’t work on PC, and PlayStation is a lot of work required.
PSN you need to have an NZ created account, purchase the game in the NZ PlayStation store using NZ gift cards, then gameshare on the same console to the alts, and your cod account on Activision site needs to be set to New Zealand. There’s tutorials on YouTube it’s pretty easy.
